I am into my third one of these in 8 years. Strictly used as in line filter for a refrigerator. At most, 5 gallons of water run through the filer to the fridge ice maker / water dispenser per month. Max 60 gallons per year. My estimate is that 200-300 gallons of water ran through each of the first two filters before they failed. The first two units failed at the fitting/body. The quick connect on the body is a questionable design.
It is in a second home in the country. First time it failed we were there and damage was minimal. Second time, found it approximately 4-5 days after it started. Probably 10-15 gallon of water sprayed in cabinet and damaged some wood and items. Costs me at least 150 in damaged areas/items to date.
Unfortunately this is the only inline product at the local HD. So I replaced it with the same and are currently looking at alternatives. Over the 8 years - the first unit was $13, second unit $25 and third unit $38. It has gotten more expensive with the quality not improving. Looking for alternative that I don't have to worry the product will catastrophically fail. IMO the product comes with water damage rick.

The filter may last 5 years, but the housing does not. GE does not care about the quality of their products or stand behind them when they produce a faulty product. The housing on my filter broke well before the 5 year filter life, spraying water all over my basement (installed and used correctly). After hours on the phone this morning, they told me that only the filter is up to 5 years, but that does not mean the housing is good for that long, that they can only guarantee it for 1 year. So do not expect 5 years out of this product or GE to be useful or even pleasant when trying to get it fixed.
This is a cheap piece of crap that they do not make well and will break in your home, causing water damage, well before the filter needs to be changed. Buy literally any other brand, GE does not care if their products fail and damage your home. You will not get to 5 years with this filter.

this filter was supert easy to install. the best part about it is that i connects to the water line. so it can be used with any appliance. any filter or ice machine. we connected the filter to an ice machine.

We always use primo water for our drinking water. But our ice machine has never had a filter so you could taste the tap! But now that this is installed you don't have to worry! Finally! The ice no longer has the chlorinated after taste

My husband installed this filter in a very short amount of time with very few tools! It literally makes our tap water taste better than bottled water! Also made my water much more more clear too! Goodbye bottled water!

If you™™re looking for an easy to install in line filter, this is a great choice. It took a bit for it to prime but once it did we didn™™t lose any flow. It improved the smell and taste of the water coming out and we are really happy with it. New filter didn™™t leave particulates either.

I have a GE fridge that does not have internal filtration with the ice maker. This external filter fit in perfectly with my fridge. It easily attaches to the existing ice maker waterline and is simple to use. It helps reduce the chlorine taste in the ice. I have been finding it useful so far.

The inline wayer filter is wonderful. It is the easiest thing to replace. I found having this filtration filter really made my water taste great. I couldn't taste any chemicals. I recommend this filter to anyone.

I finally can use the water feature on my fridge and get good tasting water with this filter. It was a little challenging to install but by following the directions that are provided it was able to be done by just me. I bought this a month ago to help with drinking water. It was extremely easy to install and saved me from buying water bottles and using a lot of plastic. The water tastes great and I know it filters the water amazingly. To me this in line filter is a must have!

This is soooo easy to hook up to your water line but you have to remember that this is just for refrigerators that do NOT have a filtration system in them already. This works great and you can even taste the difference!

I bought this inline water filter for my ice maker. It is a 5 yr filter.it lasted for 1 yr and 4 months. I called customer service and was told it only had a 30 day warranty. It had a manufacturer defect as it just busted. These are junk and not backed for 5 yr as you would think.made In China. Need I say more.
