Works well and like not utilizing gas and ability to pump air from garage to heat v straight electricity is nice. However; that comes at a cost - it is extremely loud and sounds like I have a large car idling outside with vibration. I was told before install that it wuld be similar to A/C unit sound however that is in smaller doses v water heater can be for hours at a time. And this is with the replacement heater (first one was unbearably loud - like a V8 in my garage but service agreed this was a fault of the unit and replaced). All those involved in installation and issues I had were great though. Too soon to state if monthly cost is more/less than gas unit but like that I can view level of usage within the app.

With a freestanding tub you need more than a classic 50 gallon water. This water heater delivers water like an 80 gallon. It easily fits in the footprint of the existing 50 gallon and its efficiency blows out the standard 50 w/h using 60percent less energy. The extra cost pays for itself. Mine is an attic installation and the integrated leak sensor with automatic shut off valve on water supply gives me peace of mind. I love it.

manual needs updating

Installation of the water heater went smoothly until time to link it to the GE app. The manual really was of no help for this. Calling GE support took a little while to get things going, delayed by extraneous questions about my street address, etc. The support rep was in the process of declaring the unit being defective when I reloaded the app and tried to connect again. I had performed a power reset on the water heater earlier per the rep and this time the app found the water heater and connected. Only other glitch was no leak sensor included in the box; had the shut-off valve but no sensor. The dealer called GE and was told that the missing sensor would be over-nighted to me via FedEx. Still no sensor two days later.
